The Science and Technology Information Institute (STII), one of the service institutes of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is located inside the DOST Complex, General Santos Avenue, Bicutan, Taguig City.

STII was created as the information and marketing arm of the DOST by virtue of Executive Order No. 128

(30 January 1987) which reorganized the National Science and Technology Authority (NSTA), now the DOST. The institute has the responsibility to implement the following mandates:

  • To establish a science and technology databank and library
  • To disseminate science and technology information
  • To undertake training on science and technology information

These mandates are being processed and implemented by STII’s technical divisions: Information Resources and Analysis Division (IRAD) and Communication Resources and Production Division (CRPD) with the support of the Finance and Administrative Division (FAD).

Two teachers, one from Quezon City and another from Tarlac, expressed their gratitude to the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) for a courseware that they deem very helpful in their teaching profession.

Meanwhile, another from Camarines Norte sent this message via the courseware’s Facebook page: “Your courseware project will be very helpful to my nieces and nephew.”

What courseware are they talking about?

Pisay 1 wine

Yes, students of the Department of Science and Technology’s Philippine Science High School in Iloilo are indeed high in spirits as they show their wine making project, using science and technology to concoct unique wine products out of different materials. This is part of the exhibit mounted by the school as part of the Science Nation Tour Western Visayas leg at the SM City Iloilo from February 22-24, 2016. The three-day event showcased different science projects of Pisay students and the Tek-Tienda Product Fair where creative and innovative entrepreneurs displayed and sold their unique food products ranging from sweet delicacies of the region to herbal juice and supplements to woven products of intricate designs.
