The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) recently conducted an orientation-workshop entitled “TELA Matters: A Techno-preneurship Orientation-Workshop for the Philippine Handloom Weaving Communities” in collaboration with the Philippine Commission on Women.

Some 20 representatives from PTRI’s partner weaving communities from Ilocos Norte, Bontoc, Bulacan, Aklan, Antique, Iloilo, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, and South Cotabato participated in this activity which provided them with capability-building opportunities in market and product development; art, design, and niche market; design development process; and sustainable business concepts.

 

Fresh graduates and college students about to graduate from college in the provinces may be agonizing over how to gain employment in their locality where career opportunities are lacking.

The answer to this are online jobs, said Department of Science and Technology-Information and Communications Technology Office (DOST-ICT Office) – Visayas Cluster I Director Frederick B. Amores.

 

High school students from science schools in seven countries got the chance to be mentored by Filipino experts during the just concluded  2nd Philippine International Science Fair.

Organized by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Science High School System (DOST-PSHS) in partnership with First Pacific Leadership Academy, the biennial fair aims to promote a culture of science among the youth.
