Pinoy techies and science enthusiasts will learn to appreciate nanotechnology as they familiarize themselves with its products when NanoLab, one of the few nanotechnology research labs in the Philippines, opens its doors to the public on July 1, 2015.

Nanotechnology is the study and manipulation of matter at a scale of about 1 to 100 nanometers. It involves characterization, design and production of structures, devices, and systems with unique properties by fine-tuning the physical, chemical, mechanical, and optical properties of materials at the nanoscale.

 

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) brings its nationwide science roadshow “Science Nation Tour:Agham na Ramdam” to the Queen City of the South as it makes its Central Visayas stop from June 18-20, 2015.

Science Nation is slated to tour all 17 regions of the Philippines to highlight the benefits of DOST programs and technologies in the region while demonstrating the inherent role of science and technology (S&T) in daily life.

 

Furniture and handicraft workers at a Lubao, Pampanga-based bamboo-making hub have honed their skillset in bamboo finishing and thus look forward to better saleability of their products, thanks to the Department of Science and Technology - Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI).

FPRDI recently conducted a three-day training on bamboo finishing at the Sta. Catalina Bamboo Negosyo Village, a spin-off project of the Province of Pampanga through DTI’s “industry cluster approach.”
