High school students competing in the 5th ASEAN Plus Three Junior Science Odyssey (APTJSO) in UP Los Bañostook on the challenge from leaders of the local science communityto study how scientists can better assess the effects of climate change on the world’s rainforests. 
 
The APTJSO, now on its 5th year, is an annual science competition among gifted students in the ASEAN region plus those in Sweden, Korea, and China.

Department of Science and Technology- Philippine Science High School (PSHS), also called “Pisay”) Main Campus student Marla Abao recently bagged the Best Oral Presentation award at the International Student Science Fair (ISSF) held at the National University of Singapore - High School of Math and Science in Singapore. 
 
Abao won the prize for her research titled “An Android Application for Efficient Disaster Kit Procurement for Low-Level Floods.”

The Department of Science and Technology will launch its own television channel called DOSTv on May 30 this year. Touted as the“Filipino Weather Channel,” DOSTv will feature the latest weather updates and forecast, as well as science and technology stories in the country.
