Description:

Lights, Camera, Rolling! A Creative Workshop on Video Production for Beginners is a hands-on workshop on VIDEO PRODUCTION from pre-production, production, and post-production. The workshop will focus on tasks such as scriptwriting, shooting, recording audio, video editing, and adding special effects or graphics.

Course Objectives:

At the end of the 2-day workshop, participants will be able to independently produce a 2-3-minute video following the three stages of video production (pre-production, production, and post-production).

  • Basic Scriptwriting: Participants will be able to draft a simple script for a 1-2-minute video.
  • Understanding Equipment: Participants will be able to operate basic video production equipment, including cameras, microphones, lights, and tripods.
  • Shot Composition: Participants will be able to apply the principles of shot composition, including framing, rule of thirds, and camera angles.
  • Audio Recording: Participants will be able to capture clear and high-quality audio, including using external microphones.
  • Video Editing: Participants will edit a 1-2 minute video using the applicable editing software following the basic editing tasks like cutting, transitions, and adding audio.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The mandates of Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII) is to establish a science and technology databank and library; disseminate science and technology information; and to undertake training on science and technology information.

For many years, DOST-STII has had its name in the field of science communication and library information, fulfilling the first and second mandates. With the aim to institutionalize its third mandate, the DOST-STII created the Science Communication Advocacy and Library Education Upskilling Program or SCALEUP. The objective is to offer training and human resource development services in the information and communication fields, aligning with the Institute's core competencies.

 

OBJECTIVES

  1. To provide quality training and human resource development services that will address the growing need for proficient science communicators and well-equipped library professionals.
  2. To empower individuals to become effective science communicators and advocates for knowledge.
  3. To provide stakeholders with opportunities to collaborate and exchange ideas.
