Some 554 intellectual property (IP) certificates were recently awarded to various Department of Science and Technology research and development institutes, state universities and colleges,high schools, and private inventors, a proof that Filipinos are becoming more aware of the need to claim ownership totheir innovations and technologies.
The DOST-Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) awarded a total of 61 copyrights, 19 utility models, and one industrial design to DOST-attached agencies. In addition, 335 copyrights and 37 utility models were given to SUCs while 89 copyrights and one utility model were handed over to science and national high schools. Further, three copyrights and eight utility models were awarded to private inventors.

Young researchers all over the country will flock to the country’s last frontier, Palawan, on September 28-30, 2018 for a summit highlighting studies along various fields under science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The researchers are all students of the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) System, also called “Pisay.”
