Upang patuloy na mapa-unlad ang metals and engineering industry sa Northern Mindanao, anim na kagamitan o equipment ang nadagdag sa Metals and Engineering Innovation Center (MEIC) ng Region X.

Kabilang sa nasabing mga equipment ay ang Rolling Machine, Shearing Machine, Press Brake, TIG Welding Machine, Power Hacksaw, at Electric Chain Hoist. Nakatalaga naman ang pagdating ng dalawang Computer Workstations na may CAD/CAE, Portable Plasma Cutter, at iba't ibang power tools.

Lahat ito ay bukas sa mga micro, small, and medium enterprises sa rehiyon.

Ang MEIC ay proyekto ng Department of Science and Technology - Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC) na naglalayong makapagpatayo ng Metals and Engineering Innovation Centers sa limang rehiyon sa bansa.

Ang naturang inisyatibo ay dulot ng pakikipag-ugnayan ng DOST-X sa University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines - Cagayan de Oro Campus at DOST-MIRDC. Layon nito na mapalakas ang pagtutulungan ng DOST at mga unibersidad sa pagpapayabong ng innovation culture at kakayahan sa metalworking. Hangarin nito na mapataas ang competitive advantage ng buong rehiyon sa metals at engineering.

"Eventually, our researchers and services at MEIC will assist our MSMEs and metal manufacturers who lack knowledge and design in engineering.
