CLIERDEC wins R&D consortium award The Central Luzon Industry and Energy Research and Development Consortium won the 2003 Outstanding R&D Consortium Award in competitions held at the Food and Nutrition Research Institute auditorium, March 18. CLIERDEC is one of the nine regional research consortia of the Philippine Council for Industry Energy Research and Development, an agency of the Department of Science and Technology. CLIERDEC received a plaque of recognition and cash award of P125,000. Six PCIERD consortia vied for the award including the special awards for project and research management. The consortia presented accomplishments in 2003 particularly efforts in sustaining and hastening research operations. The award was based on criteria such as a) R&D coordination and management (R&D priorities, proposal generation, project implementation, technology transfer); b) training and capability building (in-house development of S&T manpower and infrastructure, organized seminars/training, consultancy services, information dissemination activities; c) resource generation and utilization (internal – audited financial report, list of contributors and their contributions and external (local and foreign) – audited financial report, list of contributors, funds utilization – audited financial report; and d) operations (timely submission/completeness of report, key result areas (KRAs), annual and quarterly reports, director's report, minutes of meeting). CLIERDEC monitor Ronaldo Q. Dominguez also received cash for his outstanding efforts and technical support. The special award for resource management went to the Ilocos Consortium for Industry and Energy Research and Development or ICIERD for demonstrating remarkable capability in generating and utilizing resources to attain greater efficiency in operation. ICIERD received P75,000 and a plaque. Meanwhile, the special award for excellence in project management was given to the Eastern Visayas Consortium for Industry and Energy Research and Development or EVCIERD, which carried P75,000.00 cash and plaque of recognition. EVCIERD was cited for meritorious effort to coordinate and manage R&D projects. Non-winning participants went home with P5,000 consolation prize each. |
