DOST major accomplishments in 2002

The Department of Science and Technology is taske to lead, provide direction, and coordinate the country's scientific and technological development efforts so that results contribute to the well-being and enhance the quality of Filipinos.

DOST's efforts directly support the national priorities enunciated in the Medium-Term Philippine Development Plan. To achieve macroeconomic stability with equitable growth based on free enterprise, DOST assists industries particularly the small-and medium-scale enterprises to build the capacity to develop, acquire, adapt and utilize knowledge and technologies for productivity and competitiveness. To help modernize the agriculture and fisheries sector, DOST provides farmers and fisherfolk access to technology inputs and innovations. To promote comprehensive human development, DOST harnesses science and technology to improve basic services in education, health and disaster preparedness, among others.
