PCARRD marks 31st year with ISO certification bid Los BAños, Laguna-The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development observed its 31st anniversary celebration with the theme PCARRD: Onward to Global Excellence in R&D Management. The celebration was held at the Manila Hotel on November 10 with guests Senate committee on science and technology chair Ramon Magsaysay Jr. and Australian Ambassador Ruth Pearce. The occasion's highlight is the giving of awards to individuals and institutions that made significant contributions to the development of agricultural research in the country. The awards include Ugnay (best consortium), Pantas (best research administrator and scientist), Tanglaw (best research institution), best R&D paper, and the professional media awards (for writers and broadcasters who contributed consistently in information dissemination). The agency “strategizes its efforts and permeates the same with the spirit of global competitiveness and innovations”, PCARRD Executive Director Patricio S. Faylon explained. PCARRD's efforts to qualify for International Organization for Standardization before the year ends manifest its pursuit of global excellence in R&D management, Dr. Faylon added. If it gets the certification, PCARRD would be the first national agricultural research system in Southeast Asia to earn such achievement and would add another notable proof of its leadership in the field of R&D management. |
