Handicraft exporter Alan B. Lastimosa used to dread the rainy season.  The rains worry him on whether or not he could send the abaca decors and houseware to overseas clients on time.

The installation of a 1,500-board feet FPRDI furnace-type lumber dryer in his Angels and Snowflakes Crafts factory cooled Lastimosa's worries off.

“We used to depend totally on the availability of sunlight to dry our products. My workers had to rush outside when it rains to make sure that all the items being dried were hauled indoors. Some of the items got wet, of course, and that meant losses for us”, he said.

“Our adoption of the FPRDI dryer last year means we are no longer at the mercy of the weather. Because we are not anymore interrupted by the rains, our drying rate has improved by as much as 60%. We finish our work faster and are better able to meet our deadlines. This makes us more confident to take in bigger orders”, Lastimosa added.

Angels and Snowflakes Crafts, based in Sto. Tomas, Batangas exports abaca decors and houseware to Europe and the US since 1997. Their masterpieces are favorites among hotels and restaurants.
