1st Philippine National Health Research System Assembly The Department of Science and Technology's Philippine Council for Health Research and Development together with the Department of Health's Health Policy Development and Planning Bureau convened the 1st Philippine National Health Research System Assembly last June 2 at the Manila Hotel. Assembly proceedings were webcast through DOST-Advanced Science and Technology Institute's Philippine Research, Education and Government Information Network (PREGINET) facility. This allowed stakeholders' participation in the assembly though they are based in different sites nationwide or outside the country. PREGINET partner institutions and the health community had the opportunity to view the different session and listened to the lectures on research management, research ethics, capacity building, and research utilization for health gains, among others. The assembly envisioned to collect stakeholders' inputs to put in place the mechanisms, governance, structures, resources, and action plans for an effective, efficient, and equitable operation of PNHRS. PNHRS is part of a global movement espoused by the Council on Health Research for Development (COHRED) to establish national health research systems in country settings.
