Bulacan R & D Packaging Center to spruce up local industriesBulacan province’s micro and small entrepreneurs can now avail of the services of the Packaging R&D Center established in the province, which is similar to the Department of Science and Technology’s facility in Bicutan, Gov. Josefina dela Cruz said. “We are the first local government unit to have this kind of facility. We put in P10M to set it up to help the more than 36,000 micro and small enterprises in the province,” dela Cruz disclosed to the recent general assembly of the Philippine Science Journalists Association, Inc. in Malolos City. The third term and first woman governor of Bulacan explained that the center will hopefully enable the local enterprises to penetrate the big supermarkets in the country and selected overseas markets and create more jobs in the province. “We have launched 31 world-class products under the “Tatak Bulakenyo” Program. The provincial government has provided computers and relevant training programs for teachers and students in all public high schools in the province. In agriculture, it continues to introduce modern farming technologies to optimize Bulacan’s remaining 27-hectare agricultural land. “But our concern is not just to have big harvests for our farmers. We are also working to turn them into agricultural entrepreneurs,” dela Cruz added.
